Neue Zukunft

Around Ostkreuz station there is an awful lot of building and renovation work going on, but the industrial area around About:Blank managed to escape the gentrification flood for now. That club has by now though been discovered by hordes of tourists, but around the corner another part of Berlin alternative culture was blossoming in peace.

Zukunft was a hardly renovated former small  business building (or at least it looked like that), with open air arthouse cinema in summer. In winter they also showed movies inside, and there are occasional jazz concerts and theater. But Zukunft was also an excellent choice as your local boozer: it even has its own brewery!

Why the past tense? Because construction work DID arrive. But only 30 metres down the road it found a new location, at least for now, next to Wilden Renate club. Excellent, small cinema!
