Birkenwerder-Wensickendorf
We love to travel far, to see unique landscapes. Unaware of the fact that some of those are actually around the corner.
We made that discovery during the walk from Birkenwerder to Wensickendorf, a tour that takes three to four hours. After leaving the small village of Birkenwerder (which can be reached by S-Bahn), the track curves its way along lakes and through forests.
After a short break at a beer garden a dramatic scenery unfolds where you think you are in a movie set, because the lakes are filled with green vegetation. This part is almost surreal. The last piece to Wensickendorf is mostly funny, because time has stood still there. With a modern diesel train you can get back into town.
(the route is described in the book 66 Seen Wanderung from Trescher Verlag)
