Bei Schlawinchen

The first time I visited Schlawinchen, a group of young English tourists were playing table football. Stone drunk and stark naked. Quite painful to watch, but the barmaid on duty found it extraordinarily funny.

It illustrates what can happen to a Berlin pub when it ends up in tourist guides. For without tourists, Schlawinchen is delightfully no-nonsense: with always half-drunk lunatics at the bar enjoying the cheap beer and making no move whatsoever to play a game of naked table football. Others though consider the place overrated, grungy and unfriendly. Visit to make up your own mind.
