It’s not even so long ago that the Torstraße was a run-down, chaotic six-lane road through the city centre. The six lanes are still there, but nowadays the area between Soho House and Friedrichstraße is a paradise for tourists.
Prassnik tries to maintain its character nonetheless, though it isn’t easy. It is a classic Berliner Eckkneipe, a pub on the corner of a street. CHeap beer, relaxed staff, always blue because of the smoke, that kind of place But by now also very busy and with fewer and fewer locals. Let’s hope the cigarette smoke keeps many tourists out for a long time to come.
