At first you don’t even notice it, when you drive from the city center onto the Schönhauser Allee, up the Prenzlauer mountain. It looks like a modernistic building, with glass and steel as its front. And ‘Kunsthalle’ painted on it.

But on the sides you can see that the construction consists of rows of sea containers. In those containers, the exhibition spaces and offices are hidden. But Platoon is more than that: it’s also a cafe and a main hall for conferences, parties and concerts. All in a flexible set-up, as these containers used to stand a bit down the road on Rosa Luxemburg Platz 🙂
