The Berggruen doesn’t exactly belong to the most well-known museums of Berlin, hidden in the not very hip western part of the city. If tourists visit the area at all, it is for Schloß Charlottenburg, only a stone’s throw away.
Quite unfair, as the Berggruen is cosy and sympathetic. The art dealer and collector of the same name donated his collection to the city of Berlin. Which means that you can especially trace the artistic development of Picasso with the more than 120 works that are on display here, but there are also several pieces of amongst others Paul Klee, Henry Matisse and Alberto Giacometti.
