Rundown pubs have become a Berlin trademark. It is a phenomenon that arose out of necessity in the nineties, because there simply wasn’t any money. By now it has often become a fashion statement to have a pub full of second-hand furniture, but the Kikisol still feels authentic.
It is a meeting place for especially artists and students, a space that feels improvised and therefore no-nonsense. The jam sessions twice a week attract musicians and are low-brow, if you’re not careful you end up drinking a beer and singing on-stage. Nice place, still a far cry from the hipster places in Neukölln and Kreuzberg
