Hamburger Bahnhof

Brilliant marketing, those coloured TL lights on the outside. When you take the train or S-Bahn in Berlin at night between Friedrichstrasse and Hauptbahnhof, you wonder what that coloured building is. A museum for contemporary art, it turns out, with works of amongst others Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. Indeed, masters of publicity in their own right as well.

The permanent collection is impressive, the temporary exhibitions occasionally. The building itself is also worth a visit: it is (as the name already suggests) a former railway station, with some insanely beautiful restored halls.
