In the beautiful, old Zeughaus the history of the German people is being explained on two huge floors. It’s an impressive exhibition, but also a load of information to digest.

You can recover from that in the magnificent inner courtyard, that is graced with a glass dome sine the most recent renovation. From there you ca take the staircase down to a tunnel that brings you to the extension of the museum. That building, with its sweeping staircase as its own entrance, houses temporary exhibitions. Those are often even more interesting than the permanent one and try to paint a picture of contemporary Germany.
